Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support a comprehensive, multiyear modernization initiative focused on replacing aging legacy systems and transitioning to a unified, cloud-native environment.

The project involves modernizing a pension administration ecosystem and supporting applications, workflows, and integrations. The modernization effort is designed to address fragmented workflows, manual processes, limited scalability, and stability issues associated with legacy technologies.

The Business Analyst will work closely with business units, technical teams, developers, testers, product owners, and project managers to analyze business processes, gather and document requirements, develop user stories and acceptance criteria, support functional testing, and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

Key Responsibilities

Process Analysis & Documentation

  • Engage with business units to understand operational workflows, pain points, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Work with Development and IT resources to understand technical requirements and translate them into clear business and functional requirements.

  • Analyze and document current-state business processes.

  • Create clear and structured process maps, swimlane diagrams, workflow charts, and related documentation.

  • Facilitate stakeholder discussions to define future-state processes aligned with organizational goals.

  • Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.

Requirements Gathering & User Story Development

  • Gather, analyze, and document detailed business and functional requirements.

  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements for technical teams.

  • Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, and Azure DevOps work items.

  • Ensure requirements are complete, consistent, testable, and aligned with business priorities.

  • Collaborate with product owners, developers, and stakeholders to refine and validate requirements.

  • Maintain a clear understanding of business rules and requirements throughout the development lifecycle.

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Develop test plans, test scripts, and step-by-step testing instructions for functional testing and UAT.

  • Execute functional testing of user stories in Development and Test environments.

  • Validate application functionality against documented business and functional requirements.

  • Document defects and clearly communicate issues to development and technical teams.

  • Track defect resolution and verify fixes through follow-up testing.

  • Coordinate, support, or lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions with business stakeholders.

  • Validate completed functionality and confirm readiness for business use.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication

  • Serve as a liaison between business units and technical teams.

  • Facilitate requirements meetings, process reviews, testing sessions, and stakeholder discussions.

  • Ensure business and technical teams maintain a shared understanding of requirements and expected outcomes.

  • Communicate project updates, risks, issues, and dependencies clearly and proactively.

  • Collaborate effectively with developers, testers, analysts, product owners, and project managers.

  • Communicate complex business and technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Change Management & Documentation

  • Support change management activities related to application and process modernization.

  • Contribute to training materials, user documentation, process documentation, and user guidance.

  • Maintain accurate and organized requirements and project documentation.

  • Support the transition from legacy processes to modernized workflows and applications.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of experience in Business Analysis, Process Analysis, Requirements Analysis, or related roles.

  • Experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements.

  • Strong experience with business process analysis and process documentation.

  • Ability to create clear process maps, swimlane diagrams, and workflow documentation.

  • Experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria.

  • Experience creating test cases, test plans, and testing instructions.

  • Hands-on experience with functional testing.

  • Experience coordinating or supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar work-item management tools.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established project timelines.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting application modernization or legacy-system replacement initiatives.

  • Experience with business process transformation and workflow improvement.

  • Experience working with enterprise application development teams.

  • Familiarity with Azure/cloud-based application environments.

  • Experience working on complex technology projects involving multiple business and technical stakeholders.

Technology Environment

The modernization initiative includes technologies and platforms such as:

  • Angular

  • REST APIs

  • Azure SQL Managed Instances

  • Azure Function Apps

  • Power BI

  • Azure DevOps

  • Document management and process automation solutions

The Business Analyst will primarily focus on business processes, requirements, documentation, user stories, functional testing, UAT, and stakeholder coordination, rather than hands-on software development.
