Senior Software Engineer – Python / TypeScript

Remote | 8+ Years | W2 Contract | 3-Month Contract

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong Python and/or TypeScript experience and hands-on exposure to preference data, rubric creation, and evaluation workflows.

This role is ideal for an engineer who combines strong technical execution with excellent judgment around data and quality. You should be comfortable working in ambiguous environments, communicating complex ideas clearly, and moving quickly from analysis to execution.

What You'll Do

• Design and refine rubrics and evaluation criteria for preference data.

• Review and label data while maintaining a high standard for quality.

• Identify subtle quality issues and inconsistencies in datasets and evaluations.

• Build and maintain pipelines and infrastructure supporting data generation, collection, and evaluation.

• Synthesize technical and data findings into concise, actionable recommendations.

• Partner with researchers and engineers to turn qualitative judgment into scalable processes.

• Contribute to cutting-edge AI/LLM-related engineering initiatives.

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• 5+ years of proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.

• Hands-on experience building or maintaining pipelines/infrastructure.

• Hands-on experience with preference data collection and/or rubric creation.

• Strong written and verbal communication.

• Ability to clearly articulate technical decisions and quality judgments.

• Strong attention to detail and a high bar for quality.

• Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

• Ability to overlap at least 4 hours with PST.

• USC, GC, or OPT work authorization.

• Active LinkedIn profile is mandatory.

Nice to Have

• Experience with large TypeScript codebases, such as VSCode.

• AI/ML or LLM project experience.

• Data labeling, evaluation, or quality-control experience.

• Experience working directly with research and engineering teams.
